This shouldn't be news to anyone anymore, but if you want to find a job fast, get out of Albuquerque and move to Scottsdale, or Boston, or Austin, or Salt Lake City, or just about every other major U.S. city.
That's because Albuquerque ranked 135th out of 182 U.S. cities in terms of being a good place to get a job.
The ranking comes from WalletHub, which looked at more than 20 factors to come up with those scores. The factors included the employment growth rate, average starting salaries, housing affordability, median annual income, transportation costs and much more.
Albuquerque ranked 135th in terms of the attractiveness and robustness of its job market, and 118th in terms of socioeconomic factors that would make the area an attractive place to live.
And remember this about the Albuquerque area's economy: it has yet to regain all the jobs it lost during the recession. In other words, we have fewer
jobs today than we had in December of 2007.
