Conrad Candelaria out as U.S. Marshal

An abrupt departure

Conrad Candelaria, who had served as U.S. Marshal for New Mexico since August of 2010, abruptly left the position on Saturday.

Candelaria's departure from the the job was confirmed by U.S. Marshal's Service spokesman Drew Wade, but details surrounding Candelaria's resignation weren't available.

Wade said Candelaria submitted his resignation, which was effective Saturday, Feb. 3. He said he could provide no further details.

ABQReport called Candelaria's personal phone but got no answer.

Candelaria served 25 years with the Albuquerque Police Department before retiring in 2010. He was appointed U.S. Marshal by then-President Barack Obama and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
