The University of New Mexico says it'll suspend football coach Bob Davie for 30 days after two investigative reports found problems with the way Davie has handled various issues regarding players.
A report from the school's Office of Equal Opportunity said that Davie made offensive remarks to African-American players during a football camp in Ruidoso May of 2017.
Four black players were sitting on a golf cart and Davie told them, "What are you doing on a white man's tractor?" the OEO report said.
A second report by the Chicago law firm, Hogan Marren Babbo & Rose, said it could not conclude that football coaches or staff had obstructed criminal or misconduct cases, based on its review of three incidents.
But the firm recommended an annual review of the university’s handling of student-athletic misconduct cases and leadership that “set(s) a stronger tone and commitment to compliance — that student-athletes will be treated like and held to the same expectations and standards of conduct as other University students.”
UNM dfidn't say when the suspension will begin.
